Fellowships
Chandler Award for Student Religion Reporter of the Year
$600, $300 and $150 awards. Submit three religion stories published during the 2012-2013 academic year (summer thru spring) in campus newspapers and magazines or in general circulation newspapers during a student internship. Stories may be print or online and may include the main text, related sidebars (one per story) and infographics. No photos or audio. Awards for winning stories that have shared bylines will be shared among all authors. Any full-time or part-time student who has never been employed (not counting internships) as a reporter or editor at a general circulation newspaper is eligible to apply. Deadline late spring 2013. Religion Newswriters Association Annual Conference Scholarships
RNA invites active members to apply for scholarships to attend RNA’s 64th Annual Conference September 26-28, 2013 in Austin, Texas. Stipends of up to $1,000 per person will be awarded for registration, hotel and travel fees to attend. All active RNA members who have not received more than two conference scholarships are eligible. Priority will be given to active members who have never received a scholarship. Made possible by Religion News Foundation’s Conference Scholarship Fund.
Online application opens during the spring. Applicants should prepare a current resumé and a statement of need. Recipients will be notified during the summer. Scholarship applicants should register for the conference by choosing the “BILL ME” option to avoid paying fees up-front. Bills will be reconciled after scholarships are awarded.

Knight International Journalism Fellowship
Candidates from any country may submit proposals for fellowship projects that create lasting change to improve the quality and freedom of news around the world. Candidates may submit ideas for projects they would like to manage as Knight Fellows, along with the fellowship application, or for projects that recruited Knight fellows would manage.
